Good Afternoon Troop Families…

 

This is a glorious weather weekend, I hope you are all enjoying the breeze in your hair wherever you may be!!!

 

Some changes have needed to be made to the Troop Calendar at the committee meeting this past Tuesday and so I wanted to touch base with you all with the information (see below)

 

Most importantly our first tent camping trip is coming up to Allaire State Park…we will be biking and camping and eating Dairy Queen till we burst…I have attached the permission slip to this email and it has all of the details, but should you have any questions please call either Angela (Trip Coordinator) or myself and we will be happy to help. Most noticeably for this trip we are inviting families to join us for the bike trip and dinner. All the information can be found on the website and the permission slip.

 

Just as a friendly reminder if you missed the parent meeting: All scouts sleep at a minimum 2 to a tent. This is a BSA safety regulation to ensure no scout sleeps alone. IF YOU SCOUT DOES NOT OWN A TENT…NO WORRIES, JUST SHOOT ME  A TEXT WE HAVE TROOP TENTS WHICH WE ARE IN THE PROCESS OF ACCESSING. THESE TENTS CAN CERTAINLY BE LOANED OUT FOR THE REMAINDER OF

SCOUT YEAR, THERE IS NO NEED TO RUN OUT AND BUY A TENT. The Phoenix patrol can tent amongst themselves or not…whatever they prefer. The guys always make a group and pair up without incident no worries we will work it all out before we leave.

 

Items needed to tent camp:

• Sleeping bag/pillow
• Bed roll to put your sleeping bag on
• ALL SCOUTS NEED A HELMET FOR THE BIKE TRIP
• Foldable camping chair for the campfire
• Mess kit w/ utensils
• Cup that is heat resistant (for hot chocolate)
• Flashlight or lantern
• Sun block
• Change of clothes
• Change of shoes changes of socks ( dry feet are happy feet)
• Raingear
• Scout book/pen but it in a gallon zip lock bag ( trust me)
• Any personal snacks that they would enjoy (tents get hot in the sun…leave chocolate home)
• Toothbrush/deodorant/toothpaste/hand wipes/toilet paper
• (whatever card games)
• NO ELECTRONICS….LEAVE THEM HOME…NO PHONES only scouts that are star and above may have a phone and they are to be left in their gear during the day…if your scout needs something we will provide it…if there is an emergency we will call you…

1. April 20th (Thursday) 7:00PM Troop Meeting -Adelphia Firehouse
• This is a Regular Troop Meeting
• Permission slips and Payment are due this evening for the Allaire Bike/Camping trip. If you have not paid your troop dues you are not eligible to camp.
2. April 22nd (Saturday) Haris Alam Eagle Scout Project...volunteers needed Camp Sacajawea 8-3pm
3. April 27th (Thursday) 7:00PM Troop Meeting Adelphia Firehouse
4. April 28th (Friday) -April 30th (Sunday) Troop Camping/Bike trip: Allaire
• Scouts are being dropped off with their bikes at 6pm (directions will be provided)
5. May 4th (Thursday) 7:00PM PLC Meeting at the Firehouse, only scout leadership is required to attend, if your scout does not hold a position in the troop his attendance is not needed. Thank you.
6. May 9th (Tuesday) 7:30PM Committee Meeting at the Firehouse

8. May 13^th ( Saturday) Troop 150 Klondike Derby in July Fun Day/Grillin’ and Chillin’ (Adelphia Firehouse) (TBA)

• This is a merit badge meeting
• Permission slips are due this evening for the Lake George Camping Trip
• All requirements must be submitted for the Spring Court of Honor
12. June 1st (Thursday) 7:00PM Troop Meeting Adelphia Firehouse Camping chaperone assignments will be distributed tonight
13. June 2nd (Friday) -June 4th (Sunday) Troop will be camping at Lake George, NY details to follow
14. June 8th ( Thursday) Spring Court of Honor 7 PM
15. June 10 & 11 ( Sat & Sun) Jordan Waldman Eagle Scout Project ( Details TBA)
