Because we are in the middle of a public health emergency, Mr. Karn thought it would be a great idea for the scouts in the troop to work on the Public Health merit badge. The details are as follows:
- Mr Karn will be offering an on-line course in the Public Health merit badge.Any Scout who is interested can email Mr. Karn at sgk8102@hotmail.com.
Please put "Public Health Merit Badge" in the subject line. No phone
calls, please. Also please understand that as a front-line
emergency healthcare worker, it may take me some time to get back to
you.
- Requirements for the merit badgecan be found by searching "Public Health Merit Badge" on line.
- For all of requirement 1, substitue COVID19.
- For requirement 3, substitute "explain" for "demonstrate" ways for making water safe at camp.
- For requirement 5, the visit shall be a virtual visit. You may also
visit the website of a hospital, and report on the effects of COVID19 on
hospital operations, such as visitation, elective surgery, etc.
- For requirement 7, the Scout shall use option (b). Requirements 7(b)(i)
and 7(b)(ii), use COVID19, the year shall be 2020, and the data can be
either State of NJ or Monmouth County.
- All requirements should be submitted to me in writing. Please keep a copy of anything you send me
- When this Public Health Emergency is over, we will all meet and take care of blue cards at that time.
