Whoop Whoop Update Alert!!!

posted Feb 18, 2017, 5:16 AM by Ally Smith
  1. ELIAS: Elias Csipkay is in the hospital (Centrastate)  with a collapsed lung and is awaiting surgery. While the Troop is sending a card, let’s shower him with get well wishes…his home address is 444 Adelphia Rd. Freehold, NJ 07728. I will update the troop as I get more information.
  2. MOVING: We have been accepted at the Adelphia Firehouse on Adelphia Rd, and they have agreed to be our charter organization….What does that mean? We will slowly start the transition to have all meetings at this firehouse. The committee believes that this facility is a much better fit for our Troop and will allow us to be closer to Pack 150 regularly. Our Next Scout meeting and those going forward will be at the FIREHOUSE.
  3. GROWTH: We are over the moon that 9 young men from Pack 150 have committed to joining us for the upcoming scout year. The Blue & Gold is 2/24…so expect to see new faces and families to welcome aboard.
  4. CAMPING: our next trip is 3/24-3/26 at the Buckstown Cabin in Whiting, NJ… This is a heated cabin, indoor bathrooms and last year was an amazing weekend of comradery, cards, axis & allies and amazing food…we will have NRA firearm instructors onsite for the scouts who would like to shoot. Price looks like it will be about $40.00 per scout with an additional $5.00 for those who would like to shoot for supplies (Ammo & Clay) permission slip will be forthcoming. No one has to shoot, it is there if you want to…you can have a perfectly awesome time without picking up a firearm.
  5. Class B Shirt order: This will happen shortly, please be on the lookout.
  6. Scout Closet: as we have a ton of new scouts…this is the perfect time to bequeath scout stuff, hiking boots etc that is too small to the next generation.
  7. Parent meeting: we need to have a parent meeting and will do so as part of the committee meeting in March.
  8. Summer Camp: We are booked for Ockanickion Scout Reserve again this year for July 23rd through July 29th.

  • A swim test will be  scheduled at he YMCA for the troop to complete this requirement before we go. Completing the swim test is mandatory to swim at camp or attend any trip through the year that involves canoeing or rafting. TBD
  • We will be determining how much adult support we will need if you are interested in volunteering please contact Ally. Adults will be staying either full week or half week…I’m sorry there will be no drop in adult visits this year (with the exception of Eagle Scouts) as we have new scouts coming who may feel homesick and more so by your visit to your scout)
  • Physicals are due to the scoutmaster by July 1st. See the BSA official site for "Annual Health and Medical Record" Forms.  (Use the "long form", for "campouts over 72 hours".  Your physician fills in Part C.)
